Can you cook in a crock pot without it being 1/2 full?

I have a large crock pot and I am only cooking for two. I want to make bbq pork chops in it but I know that it will not fill it to 1/2 full like the manufacturers directions say to do. Does anyone know how this might alter the cooking time, etc if I cook in it without it being 1/2 full?
