Shoes, besides orthopedics, that are good for bunions?

You could check out New Balance. They're recommended by my and others' podiatrists. As a young child in the 1950's and 1960's, I remember my grandmother getting very inexpensive shoes and cutting the top to allow for the bunion. If you choose this route, you could jury rig something to cover the cut-out portion to be in compliance with your employer's requirement. It won't be fashionable, but it might not be too noticeable with the right cover-up. Since you're on your feet so much, consider an insert for added cushion.
